A fabulous holiday, combining the luxury of cruising one of the world's most beautiful coastlines - with workshops in Sculpture, Creative Writing, Meditation, Yoga and Group Harmony Singing.

Each morning there'll be a different Workshop held out on-deck ... afternoons can be spent honing new skills or just swimming, snorkeling or snoozing. All at an affordable price.  The only cost is that of the Cabins - which includes everything from food to the crew (Captain, Chef, Stewards/Deckhands).

The Workshops are offered on a non-profit-making, cooperative basis, with the Facilitators all giving their skills for free - just for the love of it.

If you'd like to put your name down for next year's Cruise (2017) you'd be more than welcome.

"Babaveli 8" - 29 meter Luxury Turkish Gulet

This boat can only be described as "spectacular". Beautifully designed and run by a professional crew, it offers everything one needs.  At nearly 90ft it's easily spacious enough to offer privacy if one ever feels like it, as well as the happy company of fellow guests.  The cabins are all spacious and tastefully decorated, with their own private WC/showers as well as plenty of cupboard/drawer space.  Communal areas of the boat consist of a spacious saloon with dining area and bar, while on deck there are 2 further dining areas (under awnings) as well as plenty of space for sunbathing. The boat comes with its own Captain, Chef and 2 Stewards/Deck-hands, who have their own sleeping quarters (and, during the day, are so sensitively inconspicuous one hardly notices the work that goes into running the boat).  Meals, which are included in the price, are freshly prepared each day and dietary preferences can be catered for with a little advance notice.  The 3 hour classes will be held in the mornings, on deck under the cool of the awnings, while the Captain sails us to our next destination. Afternoons and evenings are free for us all to swim, snorkel, fish, canoe, windsurf, (all equipment provided).  We can also, if we wish, take excursions on land to visit the museums, explore the villages, walk in the pine forests and visit local markets, or simply relax on deck and soak up the tranquility of the bays that make up south west Turkey's stunning turquoise coastline.

The Cruise/Course runs from Monday afternoon to the following Monday morning on a full board basis. If you were able to extend your holiday by a few days, before or after the Cruise~Course, there are plenty of hotels to choose from, (recommendations can be offered on request).  The marina, where the boat will be waiting for us, is just a 20 minute taxi-ride from DALAMAN airport.  We meet as a group for the first time by the pool of Mr Dim's hotel, (wonderful name, wonderful hotel!) tucked away in the little town of Gocek, we then meander down to the marina to bourd our boat.

The UK-based Gulet Agency "Blue Cruise - London" from whom we charter the boat, has been in operation for over 18 years and has built a reputation for reliability and excellence.

The following Testimonials are from Students who took the Sculpture Only Course (Summer 2014):

What an incredible experience! My wife and I booked this trip - with no prior experience of sculpture (and to be honest, with a much greater interest in just enjoying a relaxing gulet cruise in the gorgeous Gocek region of Turkey). The Gulet and the area lived up to our considerably high expectations, but it was your ability, Kate, to deliver a fantastic course that far exceeded our expectations.  Not only were you able to take complete novices and have us creating really interesting pieces of work in no time at all, but it was totally absorbing - a great antidote to the pressures of modern living. As well as being educational you expertly facilitated the bonding of the group and in no time at all we went from "mucking about with clay" to singing, dancing, midnight swimming and generally having a wonderful time.  All in all it was a fantastic holiday with truly wonderful people.  Where do I sign up for next year's trip?

Thank you for organising such a wonderful trip!  The combination of sun, relaxation and sculpture - in between swims and reading - worked really well. And the boat was lovely, with plenty of room for everyone to have their own space as well as sit around and chat together.  The whole thing was both great fun and highly inspirational!  Can't wait to do it all again!

For some of us, sitting on a beach for a week can be an uneventful trial, for others trailing round museums/historical sites can be similar, so what a fantastic find this holiday was for me.  Cruising round the islands of Turkey's turquoise coast on a beautiful boat, whilst learning - in a very relaxed fashion - how to sculpt ... what could be better?  Sitting under the awnings, a lovely breeze to make the heat enjoyable, with wonderful scenery all around.  Add to this, lazy afternoons after a delicious lunch, with the boat mored in beautiful inlets, from which we could swim, paddle a canoe, windsurf or simply read a book on deck.  Evenings were a delight, with spontaneous music-making and dancing, before retiring to our onsuit cabins - of as I did on the last night: sleeping out under the stars.  All utterly delightful!

Testimonials from Students 2013

Dear Katie, thank you for a fabulous week!  Steve and I absolutely loved it - and we'd highly recommend it to others.  We weren't sure what to expect beforehand, either in terms of the Course and the accommodation (having never been on a Gulet before), but we were blown away by both.  The master cabin was absolutely wonderful, as were all the facilities and the crew.  But we really wanted to let you know just how fantastic we found the Sculpture Course itself: informative, inspiring and fun!  As well as the unique experience of living and sculpting on board a boat, your particular method of teaching really stood out: clear/practical instruction, generously shared and thoughtfully taught.  And with remarkably impressive results.  I took sculpture classes many years ago but while I may have learned some of the practical side I don't ever recall having been guided towards re-creating real expression.  I found it invaluable and it's inspired us both to continue sculpting now we're home - this is entirely due to you. To sum up: the whole holiday has to be one of the most enjoyable we've ever had: the perfect mix of creativity and relaxation (and on a luxury vessel too!) with time to chill-out in heavenly surroundings and sufficient class-time to create something special, mentored by a true artist, incredibly skilled, professional and what's more: great fun to spend a week with!  Thanks again for an awesome holiday.  We'll be back!

Warm Regards,

Rachael Vance and Steve McKenzie   (Australia)

Dear Katie, (Alius: "Teach"),  Just wanted to say a big thank you for giving us a truly remarkable week - it was bliss!  I've never been on a "Gulet" before and I'm not really someone who normally signs up for Art Classes, but in a "why not" moment I booked.  Some nerves followed but I needn't have worried, your patience and lovely encouragement gave us such confidence that we totally relaxed, resulting in us all producing quite an astonishing standard of work for complete beginners - a surprise to everyone and a credit to your teaching.  The boat itself was simply spectacular and the crew fabulous (as was the food), but special thanks must go to you for making the whole thing so incredible.  Different personalities off the boat I'm sure but with the influence of your style of teaching we found ourselves gelling in a happy group atmosphere of fun, relaxation and creativity.  So: thank you!  For the most wonderful week, for giving me the confidence to put my best foot forward and for being such a lovely lady (and "Teach")  Roll on next year ... we'll be there!

Much love,

Jan Beer  (Somerset UK)

Dear Katie, thank you so much for organising such a wonderful holiday, it was great!  The gulet, the crew, the weather, the company and the sculpting - what more could one ask for!  And so lovely to see people who've never done any sculpting before produce such wonderful things under your guidance.  The sculpting itself was such a good way of providing a focus, a common interest (and often hilarity) for a group of people who've never met before - it really was lovely.  Back to reality now ... and a cardigan!

Thank you!
